DC Street Tree Map
In 2002, Casey Trees inventoried the 133,000 street tree spaces of the District. As a result in 2004 we built this interactive web map to enable you to view the results. Here you can make your own neighborhood map or zoom in to identify individual trees, their species, size and condition. You can also see the amount and value of air pollutants the tree removes, and its value to a tree appraiser.
This unique interactive mapping site was created with the assistance of CUNY’s Community Mapping Assistance Project, CMAP. Pollution values were calculated using the USDA Forest Service Urban Forest Effects Model (UFORE).
In 2003 Casey Trees passed this information to the Urban Forestry Administration the agency that manages the street trees of DC. For an updated version of the trees in GIS/ESRI (SHP) or Google (KMZ) visit the dcgis.dc.gov website.
